The advantages of switching to a Heat Pump System are energy efficiency, more gradual air distribution, environmentally friendly, quieter and savings with rebates/tax credits. Also, we live in an area where we have mild winters and hot summers, so heat pumps are very efficient for California weather because they work with technology that moves air instead of creating it like traditional combustion systems and air conditioners.

Nowadays a lot of the different brands share the same exact parts (Copeland Compressors, Honeywell Relays, Electrical Parts, Contactors, Control Boards, etc.). The bottom line is that things are not made like they were 30 years ago with any of the brands.
No, it will not. New ECM motors and variable speed motors are more efficient than traditional PSC motors (constant torque). They adjust better to the temperature demands in the house. Sizing the unit appropriately to the size of the home will also help if the unit is undersized or oversized.

During extreme weather if you turn your system off while you are not home, then when you come home and turn it on, it will run for a long time to catch up.
