Why should I choose R & C Heating and Air for my services?

We are a small, family-owned business that stands behind our work and gives excellent customer service. We take the time to evaluate the entire system to ensure that it is working most efficiently and that it is maximizing its airflow. Sometimes a little tweak can make a large impact. Since we are a small company, we can give more personalized service. We have over 25 years of experience in working with residential home customers. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service, workmanship and work ethic. We do not upsell and we are trustworthy.

What are the advantages to convert from a traditional gas/electric system to a heat pump system (all electric system)?

The advantages of switching to a Heat Pump System are energy efficiency, more gradual air distribution, environmentally friendly, quieter and savings with rebates/tax credits. Also, we live in an area where we have mild winters and hot summers, so heat pumps are very efficient for California weather because they work with technology that moves air instead of creating it like traditional combustion systems and air conditioners.

What is the most reliable HVAC unit brand?

Brand recommendations are based on the customers preferences and budget. Nowadays a lot of the different brands share the same exact parts (Copeland Compressors, Honeywell Relays, Electrical Parts, Contactors, Control Boards, etc.). The bottom line is that things are not made like they were 30 years ago with any of the brands.

If I replace my HVAC system will my new unit run all the time like my current one?

No, it will not. New ECM motors and variable speed motors are more efficient than traditional PSC motors (constant torque). They adjust better to the temperature demands in the house. Sizing the unit appropriately to the size of the home will also help if the unit is undersized or oversized.

Why does my unit makes noise when the unit is within the living space, i.e., closet, etc.?

Traditional units tend to make more noise. New ECM motors and variable speed motors are much quieter and run better than traditional motors.

Why do some parts of the house take longer than others to heat or cool; or why isn’t one room getting air or why it doesn’t heat or cool like the rest of the house?

Conventional systems (combustion) combined without an adequate thermostat location tends to cool or heat some areas faster than others. Heat pump systems are more gradual and tend to distribute the air more evenly avoiding puddles of air. Jump ducts help to solve this problem and evaluating your return size area and location.

How do I save on my utility bill?

Savings are always tied to usage. The trick is to be smart with usage. Using a smart thermostat helps with this. Trying to maintain a more consistent temperature in your home will save you energy. During extreme weather if you turn your system off while you are not home, then when you come home and turn it on, it will run for a long time to catch up. Oftentimes this coincides with the most costly energy usage times of the day.
